Blogging for Class

Hi, all,

This is the first time I have created a blog for a course, but I am looking forward to it.

I do actually teach a bit of Library 2.0 technology for two of my courses so I am really looking forward into learning more about the tools that are continuing to come out and evolve as the market drives what people are interested in.

This great episode of Frontline called “Growing Up Online” will help adults understand the role that the Internet plays in the lives of our youth, both the good and the bad. Please take the time to watch the episode because it will be quite helpful in understanding the relationship between kids/teens and the Internet and the importance of looking to Library 2.0 as a tool to work with them. Besides being able to watch the episode, there are also a number of resources located at the program’s site for further information on the topic for those interested. Also, remember that just this type of access to information online is a good example of Web 2.0.

For those of you looking to know more about me, I am the Young Adult Librarian at the Greenville Public Library in Smithfield, Rhode Island, and I have been there for the last 12 years. I really do enjoy working with teens, and I am a bit of an expert when it comes to young adult literature. If you are interested in reading a blog based on what I read for pleasure, you can find it at http://www.blogster.com/lunarhunk.

See y'all 'round cyberspace!
